Qualifications & Experience
I currently hold two university degrees: a BA (Hons) in Music Technology, and an MSc in Audio Production. The title of my MSc dissertation was 'Evaluating Listener Preference and Immersion Levels of Binaural and Stereo Music'. The following mixes of You & Me & The Radio by Human Radio were created to be used in the aforementioned dissertation studies.
Headphones are required to experience the intended effect.
The majority of my production work is done within Logic Pro. I am also experienced at using Pro Tools, Ableton, and Adobe Audition.
I also have experience working with audio in live music environments, having trained, shadowed, and assisted on concerts in various venues in Greater Manchester, including YES, The Met, and Lion's Den.
Music Production
I write and produce my own electronic music under the name Saturnus (formerly Darklight Dragon).
Additionally, I am well versed in recording and mixing other musicians/bands. The following is a song from local band Free Strangers, recorded and mixed in 2022.
Music Performance
I am classically trained in flute and piano performance; I have achieved Grade 8 in flute, and Grade 4 in piano (certificates available upon request). I also have some basic skills playing guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele.
Sound Design
I have some experience doing sound design; my sound design experience includes sourcing and recording sound effects and ambience, mixing post-production sound, and recording and editing voice acting.
The work below, Sintel, a CCA 3.0 film from the Blender Foundation, was edited in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. The following is the stereo mix.
I have also done some sound design for a visual novel concept; all the sound in the following clip was created by myself.
